Course content
Each Beginners’ Course consists of 6 weeks of lessons with each lesson lasting two and a half hours to three hours.
The course will include the following projects along with general tuition on learning to measure, cut and sew and in addition how to thread and use a sewing machine. You will also pick up loads of top tips and helpful hints to help you on your sewing journey.
Lesson 1 – Drawstring Bag
Lesson 2 – Piped Pin Cushion
Lesson 3 – Zip up Makeup Bag
Lesson 4 – Zip up Makeup Bag
Lesson 5 – Envelope Cushion with contrast edging and buttonholes
Lesson 6 – Envelope Cushion with contrast edging and buttonholes
Skills learnt include: measuring and cutting fabric accurately, checking for pattern placement; using a standard foot, a piping foot and a zipper foot; straight and zigzag stitches; creating piping and attaching; inserting a hidden zip; working with lots of layers; automatic buttonholes. And, of course, all the top tips from my experience along the way!
